Students will work in a team (or teams) to ideate, then develop and launch, a software product that improves their school district or community in a way important to them. Students build valuable, hands-on computer science skills, learn how to plan and collaborate on software projects, and begin learning how to think like an entrepreneur (product/market fit, success metrics, etc.).
Hula provides teams with access to industry leaders and resources (project management, software containers) to help them get to work solving problems.
Hula serves any student with an idea, programming competency, a passion for technology, and college aspirations. Students with graphic design and early business interest can contribute, making the program cross-disciplinary. Students engage by spending outside school time working with their teammates, ideally for a 1-year minimum commitment.
Students improve their college application in exchange for their hard work.
